Michael Myers beginner guide: your first nights as the Shape
Updated Sep 11, 2026v1.0.1Verified2 min read
New Michael players lose the same way every time: they play him like a chase killer. He isn't one — he's a pressure system. Your power (Bloodthirst, Stalk) is built in the quiet minutes, and the players are the last thing you hunt, not the first. Play the film: the Shape watched for a long time before anyone died.
If you haven't finished story mode, do that first — it's the tutorial for everything below.
The opening: build before you hunt
Stalk NPCs and Special Targets first. Killer Sense gaze raises Stalk (max level 3); higher Stalk means better damage, grabs, and tracking. NPCs can't fight back — they're free meter. See Special Targets explained.
Cut phones and power as you circuit. Phone lines delay the police call; darkness is Shape Jump fuel and Bloodthirst protection. Every dark house is yours.
Avoid grouped civilians early. A 3v1 under lights against a low-Stalk Michael is how you end up knocked down — and with police around, detained.
Commit when built. High Stalk, map darkened, police delayed — now the players are prey instead of a problem.
Core habits
- Shape Jump from darkness you control into rooms you've scouted. Blind jumps waste your best tool; jumps into lit rooms may not be available at all.
- Killer Sense constantly, between actions. It's not just Stalk-building — it's your map intelligence.
- Weapons: you start with the kitchen knife; an axe is among the unlocks (further weapons unverified). Loadout is 2 fixed abilities + 3 optional picks — Reality Tear, Blackout, and Detection Pulse are the established options.
Reading the threats
- Lights going on across the map = a coordinated team. Prioritize the power, not the players flipping switches.
- Police arriving = your knockdown risk now includes detention. Fight in darkness or don't fight.
- A group camped at an escape = they're staging. You have until the last item arrives — spend it breaking their prep elsewhere or setting up the ambush, not standing in the porch light.
Mistakes that lose nights
- Chasing the first hero you see at minute one (you're at your weakest; they lose nothing by running you in circles).
- Fighting into a lit room with 3+ civilians (knockdown → arrest → the safest evacuation window you'll ever gift them).
- Ignoring NPCs all match (your engine never starts).
- Tunneling one player while Special Targets evacuate (you win the kill feed and lose the night).
